An interview with

Dr. Jan Bucek | Sales Manager

“Its always the people that shape the company.”

1) What is your role at Plasmion?
I am sales manager, covering Germany, Switzerland, and Austria directly. Except these three countries I try to find new distributors as well as to support existing ones we have basically all around the world. I joined the team back in June 2021.

2) What skills are particularly valuable for your work at Plasmion?
First of all, it’s all teamwork. What I am trying to say is that Plasmion would not be successful without having motivated and tireless people on board. But I guess its important for sales to be communicative, respect borders and believe in the product. That counts more than anything else.

3) Why did you choose Plasmion as an employer?
I have been always into mass spectrometry and especially ion sources. My first contact with Thomas and Jan happened back in 2019. At that time, I was employed at one of Plasmion’s distributors. Honestly, I was always impressed by the technology and its simplicity. Having this all in mind, Plasmion was basically a natural choice.

4) If you could completely reinvent the way companies and customers interact, what would your ideal sales experience look like?

I consider myself a pragmatic person. That said, in an ideal world, I would like people’s decisions to be driven less by emotions and more by data and facts. But we’re not living in an ideal world, are we?

5) Which innovation or trend do you think will most transform the sales profession in the next few years?

Robust processes backed by a high level of automation. This combination will not replace human interaction, but it will make it far more precise and effective.

6) What creative strategies do you use to build lasting and meaningful relationships with clients?

I would be foolish to say that publicly 😊

7) What has been the most rewarding “aha” moment in your sales career – and how did it shape your approach afterward?

Moving from spray and pray approach to more targeted one.
